Fading To Black And White - Editorial

For some reason I've always loved black & white pictures and movies. I guess its the way they change your entire outlook just by changing the simplest element. So when creating this post I wanted to do elegant dresses with a grunge twist, but when I started taking the pictures I removed the grunge element, for the most part and just concentrated on the exaggerated dresses. I really played with the idea of having an unconventional background. Which I settled for brick so its prominent in most of backgrounds. I loved the little accessories the most. The leather gloves, which I have conveniently cut off the tips. The hat I actually made from some old fabric I had lying around and a bit of my mother's tulle.
Although I still have yet to produce a picture with a smile, I am working on it. I plan on posting at least one editorial a week. So guess I'll start on my next one now so it'll be ready to post next week. Until then, I'll post my fall's top picks and my daily wears.
All the dress and skirts where made by me. The blazer is by H&M and the platform boots are Report Signature.

My Absense!!

Well, I've been a little absent this past week due to an overload of events. My brothers birthday, which in my family is like a 3 day event. A friend of the family's baby shower, which I won most of the games, yeah me!! My little "brother" decided to visit for a few days so I spent a few days hanging out with him. So I hardly check the blog, but thank you all so much for your comments and messages.

On another note I did get the chance to finish a Myspace page for the blog. YEAH!! Who knew it was so difficult to create a likable page. It took a couple of tries but I managed to finish it last night and I created the layout all from scratch. Here is the LINK if you want to check it out or to become a friend, I hope you all like it!! It is still new as I just finished last night so there are a few changes to be made.

Lastly I came up with the idea for another editorial, which I will be finishing the pictures today and posting them tonight. I'm so glad to be posting again. I missed all my fellow bloggers!!!

Channeling Jenni Kayne

Jenni Kayne Fall 2008 collection is nothing more than quiet sexiness. What is quiet sexiness you wondered. Well it's something that is sexy without being over the top. I myself, am a firm believer that you don't have to bare a lot of skin to be sexy. I believe that when women try to hard to look sexy by wearing really revealing clothing that is extremely tight, it often looks unpleasant. This belief is probably why I am such a fan of Ms. Kayne. The understated, sexy appeal of her clothes is quite elegant. Not to mention how perfectly tailored the clothes fit to the body. I "tried" with "tried" being the operative word, to portray her look. I find that my version is mediocre at best. Its noticeably minus the glasses, gloves and I've opted to pair the skirt with a black jacket vs. my brown one, because it just looked better. Plus I noticed that I come off looking so sad which isn't me at all. I smile all the time and I think maybe its time to let you all see. So I'll start posting pictures with a smirk or something of that nature. :)

My Top 8

I was tagged by the gorgeous Shen-Shen to list my top 8's of the follwing:

Eight Things I Have A Passion For:
1. My family

1. “Cutie" - What I call my little "brother".
2. “Is it because I'm the youngest"- I say this all the time jokingly to my siblings because I'm always the last to know everything.

My Fashion Editorial - Occupational Hazard

Well, as many of you lovely blogger's noticed I been a little M.I.A lately. Well my absenteeism has been due to a few post I've been particularly excited about completing. So here is one of the first. My very own fashion editorial thanks to Photoshop and my ever expanding wardrobe. It is a fashionable take on occupations and lifestyle. I think of this as my own little fashionable comic book. I hope you all enjoy!!!

The Rocker

The Socialite

The Movie Star

The Ambitious Teacher

The Never Fading Hippie

The Lonely Lumberjack

And me.......The Fashion Blogger

Well as you can see, I am obsessed with fashion and have chosen to follow it as a career. So in my downward spiral into fashion oblivion I've decided to create a fashion editorial like many of my favorite magazines such as Vogue and W. I long for the day when I can do this for a living but until then a girl can only imagine. I posted this with the help of my lovely, tireless siblings. Lisa and especially Brian and Kris who were part-time photographers. Love you guys!!!

P.S. To list all the labels of my clothing would take forever, so if you like to know about a specific piece feel free to ask. I am pleased to say I created the Movie Star dress myself. Yeah me!!
No trees were harmed during the making of this post. ;)
These pictures are owned and copyrighted. Please respect my property and do not copy.

How Is It Done??

Well, if anyone is interested in how created these pieces. Well it started off with a simple photo and after enhancements and the right lighting I used my Photoshop to create cartoon like finishes. Like in the pictures below:

Bad Day In The Hot Sun

I know not very inspiring but today was a very very hot day. Definitely a day for dressing in light and airy attire. Its so unfortunate I didn't get the obsessively hot memo and wore these dark jeans and 20lb. bag. At least my tissue tank gave me minimal yet well needed relief from the heat. Hopefully the rain brings a smidgen of cool air. Today I wore my wide leg Hudson jeans, which if you haven't heard of Hudson their jeans have the best fit. They were accompanied by my Da-nang tissue tank and my darling sister's Michael Kors 'picnic bag' or so I like to call it. This bag is huge, I could probably fit myself and an entire wardrobe in this bag with room to spare. The bag goes kind of in and out for me but today it was in.

Sorry my posts have been a little short lately I am working on a fall post which hopefully will be ready to publish tomorrow. I also want to say thank you for all of your lovely comments, you guys and gals are so amazing.

The Big Idea

Lately I've taken to the idea of oversize items. Not only limited to glasses, but handbags, belts and especially shoes. These days I've taken a particular liking to my oxford ankle boots that have a 6 inch wedge.......gasps. I think I'm in shoe heaven, not to be confused with purse euphoria, or jewelry bliss. This is in a class of its own. These shoes are incredibly sexy and chic. Not to forget the jewelry which has a lot of sentimental value to me. The bracelet and ring (on my necklace) was a gift from my parents and the eagle charm that I so proudly wear is a gift from my darling dad. I paired this with my pleated Rachel Pally pocket skirt, and an American Apparel tee. I finished it off with my vintage frames, ripped tights and candy red lipstick.

BITTERSWEET

The title says it all. Today was a sad yet happy day....I guess. My aunt is moving out of town and I am really going to miss her and my cousins. But I guess these are just events in life that help you grow. Since I knew it would indeed be a long day I opted to dress comfortable. So I paired this oversize vintage dress, with a leather bust belt and some flats. I am still feeling a little somber now but to my happiness it is my best friends birthday today. So although my day, thus far, has been filled with good byes, the rest of the evening will consist of stiletto's, mini dresses and pink cocktails at a swanky Italian restaurant. Hooray me!! So I am now looking forward to lots of laughs, picture taking and delicious pasta.....I can taste it now.

The ''Eyes'' Have It

Nylon Magazine Scans

1. Luella 2. Marc Jacobs 3. Marc Jacobs 4. Michael Kors

Well, in my quest to find the perfect pair of sunnies, I found myself wanting just a little bit more. So after looking through countless runways, magazines, boutiques, blogs......well you get the picture, I searched a lot. I found myself at the mercy of a pair I would never have thought to try. The nerd-esque glasses. What glasses you ask.........the nerdy glasses. Apparently the spectacles once donned by Steve Urkel himself have cast they're spell on me. Yes they're a little corky but its okay to step outside of the box. I, myself am in search of every pair in every color I could find. I know this look isn't for everyone but I thought I'd give it a try.

In my relentless pursuit of these demure frames, I have come to find that I am not the only fan. Most famously Luella's Spring 08 runway featured models wearing the oversize frames, follow by Marc Jacobs Spring 08 runway and lastly Michael Kors fall 08's runway. I also came across some magazine scan that were provided by livingdoll on FC, that I haplessly fell in love with and purchased both pair as seen in the pics and am anxiously awaiting their delivery.

Pictured, I am wearing vintage oversized frames. The turtleneck, skirt and beaded belt are vintage. The shoes are Report Signature and the bag is Chloe.

Channeling Givenchy

Well, after pining over Givenchy fall08' collection for the last couple of month's I decided to try incorporating their looks with my very own wardrobe. It wasn't difficult at all, seeing that I have a vast number of dark pieces. I loved how I could easily incorporate the looks and how they seemed so wearable. This is a post I will definitely continue.

Of course with the first look, seeing that I don't own 100 gold chains and have a large amount of love for my back I opted not to pile on 50 lbs. of Jacob Marley-esque neckware, so instead used pink pearls. A black dress is not hard to come by in my closet, in this case a Rachel Pally V-neck dress fit the bill. I then paired them with a pair of patent peep toe boots which fit in perfectly. With the second look I paired a vintage lace dress, which I used as a top, with a black Rachel Pally pocket skirt and peep toe boots again. Lastly I paired a Pixie Hopkins ruffle blouse, with a tuxedo H&M blazer, American Apparel Lame Leggings.

The Collection That Is Givenchy

Simply Amazing. Riccardo Tisci definitely outdid himself when he fashioned this collection. Its amazingly sexy, with less than demure footwear, back-breaking necklaces and form fitting leather. We can definitely kiss and make up with Tisci, after enduring previous seasons that didn't applaud his apparent talent. I am completely smitten with his level of concentration on each and every piece. Whether it be ruffling, strategic draping, detailed lacing or even perfect pocket placement. In other words he hit the nail on the head. It definitely has a Gothic-Victorian teacher feel to it. I Love It!!!
